\u00a0Dear Readers<\/strong><\/h1>\n

A favourite Chinese saying of mine- \u201c If you want to feed a poor man, do not give him fish to eat-teach him to fish!\u201d seems so apt especially in these trying time-competing in the rat race we are caught up in !\u00a0 \u00a0 And isn\u2019t making our children independent in life and good human beings, our primary aim as parents and teachers???<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, when we as parents molly coddle our children too much,\u00a0 aren\u2019t we throwing the axe on their feet and ours too? \u00a0 Too often, I hear parents complaining about the entire system and that too in front of their children.\u00a0 It amuses me to think then, why they would pay fees to send their children to \u201cgood\u201d schools ! <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When will we teach our children to cope with life\u2019s challenges without developing the right attitudes-especially the \u201cAttitude of Gratitude\u201d?<\/span><\/p>\n

One common complaint-\u00a0 \u201cBags are too heavy\u201d!\u00a0 Instead of making our children exercise to make their backs strong, schools are lashed out against.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember, as a child, I was made to carry my own \u2018heavy\u2019 bag to school. \u00a0 My Mother used the \u2018heavy\u2019 school bag as a metaphor for the challenges life would hold for me. \u00a0 No wonder then, I have a strong and straight back even at age 61 years and at 5 feet nothing, <\/span> I stand tall enough to successfully fight the worst odds that we as teachers have to face!!!<\/span><\/p>\n

I am not surprised why someone rightly said \u2013 \u201c The hand that rocks the cradle, \u00a0 rules the world\u201d \u00a0 The foundation years 0-6 are especially dominated by a Mother. \u00a0 Hence, it is necessary for our young Mothers to be \u2018truly educated\u2019\u00a0 enough, to handle the responsibility of nurturing self-reliant, independent, problem solving good human beings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Above all, let\u2019s promise ourselves to treat every child as special and unique\u00a0 in his\/ her own right.<\/span><\/p>\n

I quote Beverly Sill, with regard to some advice to all our students\u201d You may be disappointed if you fail, but you will be doomed if you don\u2019t try!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
